A long-sought trailer for Escape from Jurassic Park, an animated series proposed in the 1990s but never produced, has surfaced in a publicly accessible online upload. Jurassic Outpost shared the footage on YouTube and identifies it as a 1993 promotional reel made by artist William Stout and Universal Cartoon Studios.

Stout worked with the studio on the series’ characters, creatures and setting. A previously shared outline for its first season suggested an ambitious story featuring surviving characters from the film and a genetics company, BioSyn, that steals dinosaur eggs to launch its own resort. The series was reportedly intended for a family-friendly primetime audience and would have taken on more complex stories.

The trailer was reportedly made to seek Steven Spielberg’s approval. Stout said at a 2021 convention appearance that Spielberg did not watch it and had grown weary of the extensive Jurassic Park merchandising and marketing. Other accounts have pointed to concerns about the planned theatrical sequel as a possible factor in the project’s cancellation, though the circumstances remain unclear.

After the series was shelved, the trailer became a piece of lost media. Jurassic Outpost says private collectors had held copies for years, but were generally reluctant to share them publicly because of legal concerns. The outlet also notes that footage had appeared online before.

The reel appears to combine computer-generated and hand-drawn animation. It was created as promotional material for a pitch, not as a finished episode, and the series never entered full production.
